Youth Families

The Youth and Families Pillar of The Unity Collaborative is dedicated to empowering young people and strengthening families through education, leadership development, mentorship, and pathways to success. This pillar focuses on equipping youth and families with the resources, support, and connections they need to achieve their goals, build strong foundations, and contribute to thriving communities.

Youth Development and Leadership Programs:
These initiatives focus on fostering positive growth in young people through education, mentoring, leadership training, and the development of workforce and life skills. The Youth and Leadership Initiative aims to empower the next generation by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and experiences needed to drive meaningful change within their communities. This initiative is rooted in the belief that nurturing youth leadership is essential for building a more inclusive and equitable future.

What does it look like in action?

Leadership Academies: A series of interactive workshops and learning experiences designed to develop essential leadership skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, and civic engagement. Participants apply their knowledge through hands-on projects and real-world experiences that strengthen leadership, encourage collaboration, and inspire positive impact within their schools, organizations, and communities.

Mentorship Programs: Pair young people with experienced leaders who can provide guidance, support, and career advice.

Apprenticeships: Collaborate with local organizations and industries to establish apprenticeship programs that offer youth practical training and real-world work experience across various fields. These apprenticeships provide a more immersive and sustained learning experience allowing participants to develop specialized skills and gain in-depth knowledge over an extended period.

Annual Youth Leadership Summit: Host an annual leadership summit that prepares students for future success by combining leadership development with workforce and career exploration. Through inspiring keynote speakers, interactive workshops, career pathways, networking, and direct engagement with business, education, and community leaders, participants gain the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to make informed decisions about their education, careers, and leadership journey.

Youth Advisory Board: Establish a Youth Advisory Board that provides young leaders with meaningful opportunities to share their perspectives, contribute ideas, and help shape programs, initiatives, and community engagement efforts. The board fosters leadership development, civic engagement, and collaboration while ensuring youth voices help inform future priorities and decision-making.

Internships: Establish partnerships with businesses, non-profits, and government agencies to provide youth with internship opportunities. These internships will offer participants valuable hands-on experiences in various fields, enabling them to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings.

Health and Wellness (Youth and Family)

Provides financial education and practical tools that help youth and families strengthen money management skills, plan for the future, and build long-term financial stability and generational wealth.

Financial Education Workshops: Workshops offered across various venues, including community centers, schools, and online platforms, addressing key financial topics such as budgeting, credit management, debt reduction, and saving strategies.

Homeownership and Investment: Provides education and guidance to help individuals and families navigate the home-buying process, strengthen financial literacy, build credit, and explore investment strategies. These programs equip participants to achieve homeownership, build long-term financial stability, and create generational wealth.

Youth Financial Literacy Programs: Programs designed to equip young people with the essential skills and knowledge needed to manage their finances effectively.
